Gay Cancun

Last winter my partner and left for Cancun, for what would be an unforgettable getaway experience.

Our plane landed at 7:05 in the morning, and by 8:30, we were at our beautiful luxury hotel. Having landed as early as we did I had planned to take a small nap before getting my day started, but I had such a rush of excitement once we started walking around our resort that I couldn’t possibly make room for sleep, and it’s a good thing my partner felt the same way!

The front desk hooked us up with all that we needed to get our day started. Since we had beach access I took advantage of the kite-boarding lessons. This was very hard to get the hang of and is not for the weak of heart. When the wind picks you up you can really go quite high!

As I’ve understood, pretty much all of the resorts in Cancun can help you in planning your daily activities, so if you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed by all that you are surrounded by, just stop by the front desk and they can point you in the right direction.

One thing that the front desk really helped out with was by providing information on all the gay hotspots in Cancun. If you’re into late night discos, I’d highly recommend checking out the Karamba dance club. It is the largest gay club Cancun has to offer, and I would personally recommend it for younger couples.

Another reason you can probably guess why Cancun is so enjoyable are the vast number of beautiful, white sand beaches. Playa Delfines was my personal favorite. You should see that tan I got by lounging there! Playa Delfines is very gay friendly and has a large gay crowd on the weekends. My partner would concur with me that this was also one of his most enjoyable beach experiences as well.

When we weren’t busy with the beaches during the day or the club scene at night, we tried to do as much sightseeing in the outlying areas of Cancun as possible. I would recommend checking out Xcaret, which is an archaeological park. Here you can check out botanical gardens, look at ancient Mayan artifacts in their museum or my personal favorite, exploring underground rivers. The icing on the cake however, is being able to dive into natural crystal pools.

Altogether, Cancun was an unforgettable experience. I could go on and on about the wonderful time I had, but you just have to go there and experience it for yourself. Just one final recommendation if you haven’t been there yet. When you leave your resort and go into the city, bring along a business card of the hotel your staying at. When you’re heading back to your hotel at night, show the cab driver the card and he or she will get you back safe and sound, no miscommunication in that!
