Gay Travel To Dublin Is Becoming Very Popular
Ireland has come a long way since the 1880s when any form of homosexuality was condemned. Today, Ireland is
proud to be a completely anti-discriminatory country. Being gay is no longer frowned upon, and people openly show
their sexual orientation. This is why gay travel to Dublin is gaining momentum in gay communities all over the
world.
Gay nightclubs and bars in Dublin are concentrated in one area near the River Liffey which is next to the funky
Temple Bar. The latest gay bar is PantiBar and already it is attracting huge crowds. The owner is a guy called Phil
who is affectionately known as 'Panti'. He is one of Dublin's most notable drag queens.
Dublin's oldest gay bar is The George which opened its doors in 1985. The original bar, known as Jurassic Park,
is still on show. Since then, The George has been extensively renovated and now has a two-story nightclub that
offers a variety of entertainment.
There are two gay saunas in Dublin. One is the contemporary Boilerhouse near the Clarence Hotel. The other is
the Dock Sauna which is near the Boilerhouse but on the other bank of the River Liffey.
The most famous tourist attraction is Oscar Wilde's statue, well known for his sexual leaning towards men. The
statue is in Merrion Square, close to Trinity College, where the young Wilde was educated. Some of his best known
quips are inscribed on columns.
There are numerous castles, parks and museums in Dublin which are in walking distance of Dublin's gay friendly
hotels. For the less energetic there are bus tours such as the popular Hop-On-Hop-Off bus that travels through the
city, stopping every 10 minutes for travelers to hop off or hop on.
All visitors to Dublin want to have the 'good Irish food' experience. There are many top-class restaurants in
Dublin that are gay friendly. You'll find a vibey eatery to suit your budget and your taste.
